Our Team

Steven Hickox

Steven Hickox was born in 1952 in Vermont. His Father was a distinguished Professor of Geology at Colby College, Waterville Maine. Steven attended Eaglebrook School, Deerfield, Massachusetts graduating in 1968. He then attended Phillips Andover Academy, Andover, Massachusetts and graduated in 1971. He then attended Williams College, Williamstown, Massachusetts. After a summer job in Colorado, Steve emigrated to Colorado in 1973. He went on to attend Colorado State University graduating with a degree in Economics in 1977. He then attended University of Colorado Law School and received a JD in 1980. He was admitted to the Federal and Colorado Bar in 1981. He maintains an active law license in the State of Colorado. He is also a licensed real estate broker. In 1994, he founded, Inc. This company acts as Qualified Intermediary under section 1031 of the IRC. The company now has a 20 year track record of successful growth. During that time, has safely handled more than one billion dollars for its client’s exchange needs.

Christopher T. Sayre

Christopher T. Sayre has an MBA in Business Administration specializing in finance from the University of Denver. In the past, Chris has worked with start up ventures and in financial planning for fortune 100 companies. Chris co-founded, a national real estate exchange facilitator, in 1994 and has been in charge of marketing and operations since then. He has financed small and large commercial real estate projects–helping clients defer their capital gains taxes. He is a Real Estate Broker Associate in Colorado. Chris has been involved in the Rockies Venture Club. An organization that puts ideas and people together with capital to create successful business ventures. Chris has a passion for entrepreneurship.

Sean Ross

Sean Ross acts as Strategic Director at Sean was born in Denver and earned his B.S. in Economics and Political Economy from Regis Univerity. He spent the next 10 years working as a retail banker, financial planner, and editor for financial publications. Sean has bylined more than 3,000 articles on the topics of personal investment, taxes, debt, real estate, and private capital. He moved from Chicago to join the team and now lives in Cherry Creek.

Matt Sayre

Matt Sayre works in Business Development and Exchange Processing at He grew up in Denver, Colorado but moved to Texas to attend Baylor University. He has a B.A. in Political Science with a Minor in Business Administration. Before working at, he worked as a USPTA Certified Tennis Professional. Matt has a passion for real estate investing, construction and land development, as well as home renovation. Matt is also a licensed Realtor in the state of Texas. When Matt is not busy working for, he enjoys tennis, golf, triathlons, skiing, cooking, and hiking the U.S. National Park system.


Denise Warfield

Denise Warfield is our Operations Manager at Denise grew up in Long Island, New York. After graduating from Miller Place High School, she headed south to college where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Florida. Upon graduation, she received a commission in the United States Navy and served eight years as a Naval Officer. Following her military career, she worked eight years as a Consumer Credit/Financial Counselor and is now a member of our team at Denise is the person to call for information about deferring your capital gains by doing a 1031 exchange. In her spare time, you can usually find her at a football game, lacrosse match or equestrian event with her husband and two children.
